The Glen Pearson Trio
Contact: Glen Pearson
# of musicians to perform at LJS: 3
Genre: based on what I heard when he played here with Rhonda Benin (and his experience with the Basie band etc) I would guess representation of jazz from the swing era on up, with deep gospel and hard bop influences.

My observations: unfortunately, the first clip (which would be most representative of piano trio material) has terrible sound quality (a phone recording?), but you can sort of get a sense of what he's doing. I heard him play our Steinway with Rhonda Benin and was impressed with his mastery of piano styles over the past century. Particularly gospel-, soul-, and R&B-influenced jazz. And he played some Phineas Newborn Jr. stuff for me after their show. I don't have any idea how well he would draw. He is an accomplished and sensitive player, but it is shocking that the clips out there are of such poor audio quality.
