Tom Reynolds — Director, President, Treasurer

Performing on trumpet and piano in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 1970's and 80's, Tom received a B.A. in Music from the University of California at Berkeley in 1982. In 1988, he made an abrupt departure from the profession, building a career in high-tech involving a 21 year stint in Portland, OR.

In 2010, he relocated to Livermore, CA, to work for a solar energy start-up.

Since 2014 he has been playing keyboards again, performing, composing, arranging, recording, and transcribing jazz solos. In 2021 he left the engineering profession to devote himself exclusively to performing, teaching, writing, and promoting music.

Jazz, Classical, ‘Art Music’, and raising awareness of “underserved” musical genres are his passions. He writes original compositions/arrangements which he performs and records with his jazz quintet and jazz piano trio. For more information, see www.tomreynoldsmusic.com.

Cindy Rosefield — Director, Secretary

Cindy has been an active freelance performer, educator, touring musician, and recording artist with over 35 years of experience. She continues to perform and record a variety of styles with various groups, one of which is Wake the Dead (a creative blending of Grateful Dead and Celtic music).

She has toured extensively throughout Europe, Japan, Jordan, the Virgin Islands, Canada and the United States performing at festivals and concerts as well as working as a clinician. Locally she has performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Concord Jazz Festival, SF Jazz Festival, Yoshi’s, the California Jazz Conservatory and many other folk and ethnic music festivals.

Her musical taste are extremely eclectic, lending her inspiration from a wide variety of musical styles/genres. She is the Director of Instrumental Music at Las Positas College in Livermore CA.

Dan Marschak — Director

Dan Marschak is an Oakland-born composer, jazz pianist and educator. He has collaborated and recorded with various Classical and Jazz performing ensembles, and is currently full-time faculty at Las Positas College in Livermore, where he teaches composition, music theory, piano, jazz combos, and piano pedagogy.

Matt Finders — Director

Matt is a bassist, composer/arranger and educator living in Livermore, CA. He spent 17 years as a member of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno Band (on trombone). On the Tonight Show, Matt wrote over 400 arrangements for the band, also as a trombonist, he performed with Benny Goodman, the Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra, Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra, Clark Terry Big Bad Band, Blood Sweat and Tears, and Harry Connick, Jr., among many others. During that period, Matt started his Jazz Labb programs to keep his students playing during the summer. Matt continues to write for the Jazz Labb groups each session.

Chris Carter — Director

Now serving as the Executive Director for Livermore Valley Arts, Chris has raised more than $8 million for the arts in Livermore. He joined the LVA staff in 2014 after working more than eleven years at Saint Mary’s College of California, where he spent the last eight as a leader in the College’s development department. His last position held was Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving. 

An avid guitarist, Chris has performed steadily in the community for the last 25 years with his bandmate, Mike Lickiss, as a member of the LK Project. Together, they have written and recorded 4 studio albums and continue to share their love of music with anyone who will listen.
